Pain in the Back – Causes and Symptoms

0

Back pain is one of the most frequent complications treated by physicians. Up to 84 percent of adults will suffer from back pain at some period in their lives. Back pain is the primary cause of disability for people under the age of forty-five and is also the most frequent reason why people will call in sick. Back pain is also the second most common type of pain, with headaches being the most frequent.

Back pain is actually a symptom and is not a disease. Pain in the lower back can be either acute or chronic depending on how it is experienced. Lower back pain is considered pain located approximately between the bottom of the ribs and the top of the legs at the back. Importantly, the pain often travels to the buttocks, and sometimes further down into the leg and as far as the foot. Pain in the lower back is the most frequent form of back pain that is found. Lower back pain is often caused by acute stress that happens in the lumbar region of the spine.

Back pain is classified into different categories based on the length of symptoms. Acute back pain is most often defined as pain that has continued for six weeks or less. Continuing pain that lasts for longer than three months is considered to be chronic back pain.

Pain coming from other organs, aka referred pain, can be experienced in the back. The kidneys are one organ that can be responsible for severe lower back pain. Back pain is more frequent in people who aren’t physically fit. Back and abdominal muscles that are not strong may not properly protect the spine.

Rest your back properly. The way the spine curves can make lying comfortably seem impossible when recovering from lower back pain. Resting and gentle stretching could be a good way to relieve some of the pain. It could be that your sleep surface may even be the cause of back pain. A few of the least expensive methods to see if an air mattress could help your pain are to try an Ozark Trail Air Mattress or the Aero Air Mattress.

Back pain is frequently treated with moderate medical management and lifestyle education for maintaining and developing more physical strength. Unfortunately, the major issue with back pain is that it often recurs. An air bed mattress may help reduce pressure points that get bothered by an average, unyielding mattress.
